What to Expect From Your Prenatal Massage at Blush
Personalized Consultation
Every prenatal massage begins with a brief, one-on-one check-in. Your therapist will ask about your trimester, how you’ve been feeling, areas of discomfort, and any specifics from your provider so your session is tailored from the very first minute.
Comfortable, Supported Positioning
Using our pregnancy bolster system, you’ll be positioned in a way that fully supports your belly, hips, and lower back, typically side-lying or semi-reclined, depending on what feels best for your body that day.
Customized, Pregnancy-Safe Techniques
Your therapist blends gentle, prenatal-appropriate techniques to ease tension and support relaxation, without deep, aggressive pressure or any techniques that aren’t safe during pregnancy.
Intentional Pressure
Pressure is always adjusted to what feels right for your body in this season. We err on the side of soothing and supportive, while still being effective on the areas that are working hardest, your low back, hips, neck, and shoulders.
Focused Areas of Relief
We can prioritize the places pregnancy tends to hold the most stress, lower back, hips, glutes, neck, shoulders, and feet, while still creating a full-body sense of release.
A Calm, Cozy Atmosphere
Settle into a serene treatment room with soft lighting, tranquil music, and warm, comfortable linens designed for deep relaxation.
Mindful Closing Ritual
Your massage closes with a grounding moment to help you reawaken gently and transition back into your day feeling clear, calm, and reconnected to your body and your baby.
Post-Massage Guidance
If helpful, your therapist may share simple aftercare suggestions, hydration, gentle movement, sleep positioning, to help you carry the benefits of your session into the rest of your week.
When Is the Right Time to Book a Prenatal Massage?
For your safety and comfort, prenatal massage at Blush is offered after the first trimester (12 weeks). From there, prenatal massage can be a wonderful companion through the rest of your pregnancy.
Second Trimester (Weeks 13–27)
Often called the “golden trimester,” this is when many clients book their first prenatal massage. It’s a beautiful time to address early postural changes, ease growing back tension, and establish a regular self-care rhythm.
Third Trimester (Weeks 28–Birth)
As your body works harder and harder, prenatal massage can be deeply relieving, supporting hip and pelvic comfort, reducing swelling, calming pre-baby stress, and helping you sleep more soundly. Many clients increase their frequency in the final weeks.
If you have a high-risk pregnancy or any pregnancy-related complications, we ask that you check with your OB or midwife before booking and share any relevant guidance with your therapist.
Pair Your Prenatal Massage With Other Spa Services
Many of our clients use prenatal massage as the centerpiece of a slower, more restorative self-care day. Thoughtful pairings include:
-
A Custom Facial, Pregnancy-safe skincare to soothe the hormonal changes that often show up in your skin.
-
A Spa Pedicure, Gentle, seated relief for tired, swollen feet, a true gift in the third trimester.
-
Spa Enhancements, Add-ons like aromatherapy, warm towels, or scalp work that elevate your experience without changing the duration.
-
A Gift Card, Prenatal massage makes a meaningful baby shower or “mama-to-be” gift from a partner, friend, or family member.
Notes & FAQ's
Massage and medical care
If you are currently receiving cancer treatment or have any significant medical considerations, we may require a note from your doctor before we can provide massage services. When in doubt, please reach out before booking.
Policies & guest comfort
We’re committed to a safe, respectful, and relaxing environment for every guest and provider. Blush is an ethical, boundary-driven spa. Inappropriate comments, requests, or behavior of any kind are not tolerated and will result in the session ending immediately. The full service charge will apply.
When can I start getting prenatal massages at Blush?
For safety, we do not offer massage during the first trimester. Prenatal massage is available beginning in the second trimester (after 12 weeks) and through your third trimester.
Is prenatal massage safe?
When performed by a trained therapist, prenatal massage is widely considered safe and beneficial for healthy pregnancies after the first trimester. If you have a high-risk pregnancy or any complications, please speak with your OB or midwife before booking and share their guidance with your therapist.
How will I be positioned during the massage?
You’ll be positioned with our pregnancy bolster system, typically side-lying or semi-reclined, so your belly, hips, and lower back are fully supported. There’s no pressure on your bump and no awkward face-down positioning.
How is prenatal massage different from a regular massage?
Prenatal massage uses pregnancy-specific positioning, lighter and more intentional pressure in certain areas, and techniques chosen specifically for the changes your body is going through. Some techniques used in our standard or deep tissue massages aren’t appropriate during pregnancy, our prenatal massage skips those entirely.
How often should I book prenatal massages?
Many clients enjoy monthly prenatal massages through the second trimester and shift to every 2–3 weeks (or weekly) in the third trimester. We’re happy to help you build a rhythm that fits your pregnancy and budget.
Can I bring my partner?
Yes, depending on therapist availability, we can often schedule a prenatal massage alongside a service for your partner (massage, facial, or pedicure) at the same time in separate private rooms. This is a beautiful way to slow down together before baby arrives.
Do you offer postpartum massage?
Yes. Once you’re cleared by your provider, our Custom Massage can be tailored to your postpartum needs, including upper back and shoulder relief from feeding and carrying baby. Just mention it during your consultation so your therapist can adjust accordingly.
